SHIFTS & CASH
Close a shift and reconcile cash in Strans POS
Count physical cash, compare it with recorded activity, and save a closing record the owner can review.
Before you start
- The shift is active, the last sale has been reviewed, and till cash can be counted.
- Opening cash and cash movements can be explained. A supervisor is available if a discrepancy requires authorization.

Examples use demo data. Menus can vary by business type, plan and account permissions.
Review unfinished work
Review pending orders and payments. Make sure completed sales have not been left as held orders. Check history before creating another transaction when status is uncertain.
Count physical cash first
Select Close Shift in POS. Count the cash actually in the till and enter that amount. Closing asks for a physical count before comparing it with the recorded balance.
Keep non-cash payments separate from till cash. Record cash in and out using the cash workflow so expenses can be traced.
Compare and explain any difference
Select Review & Compare Cash. Check opening cash, cash sales, movements and the physical count. Recount any discrepancy, then explain it using the actual events.
Some discrepancies require supervisor authorization. Use an authorized staff member and keep PINs private.
Example: a Rp10,000 cash difference
This illustration uses Rp200,000 opening cash, Rp500,000 net cash sales and Rp50,000 cash out. There are no additional cash receipts, separate cash refunds or other movements. Expected cash: Rp200,000 + Rp500,000 - Rp50,000 = Rp650,000.
If the physical count is Rp640,000, the difference is Rp640,000 - Rp650,000 = minus Rp10,000. Recount and review receipts, change and cash-out records. Record what you find; the difference alone does not establish its cause.
QRIS, card and transfer payments do not add physical cash to the till. Review non-cash records separately. Do not subtract a cash refund again if it is already included in net cash sales.
Save and review the shift report
Complete Close Shift & Deposit once the figures are correct. In the Dashboard, open Reports and Cashier / Shift Closing. Select the matching outlet and period to review closing.
Confirm records have synchronized before clearing browser data or handing the device to the next cashier.
